Obituary For Eloise Carey

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eloise McNair Carey, a beloved Mother and cherished member of our community, who left us peacefully on 3/10/2025

Eloise McNair Carey was born on 07/24/1942 in Waycross, Georgia, the 3rd child of George McNair and Hessie Hunter. She grew up in Waycross Georgia, where she attended PattersonElementary School in Patterson, Georgia and Lee Street Elementary School in Blacksher, Georgia and later graduated from Middleton High School after moving to Crescent City, Florida.

After High School, she married Herbert Carey and raised 5 children: Dennis, Cathy, Michele, Keith and Kandis.

Known for her more than 40 years of service in Putnam County Schools, Eloise McNair Carey touched the lives of many. Shewas an active member of New Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church. She served with the Usher Board, Senior Choir, Deaconess Board and Mother Board. Also, she was a charter member of the Crescent City Women’s Civic Association. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, baking, and selling Avon.

Eloise McNair Carey is survived by her children: Dennis Carey(Gwen), Michele Carey, Keith Carey (Wanda), Kandis Carey.Grandson: Kieran Brady. Siblings: Jean Anderson (Paul) and James McNair (Elba) as well as numerous friends and colleagues who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in deathby George McNair (Father), Hessie McNair (Mother), Herbert Carey (Husband), Cathy Carey (Daughter), Daisy Shelton(Sister) and Octavus “Sonny” McNair (Brother).

Eloise McNair Carey will forever be remembered for her fondness of helping others, especially children. May she rest in peace.
