Obituary

Ida Mae Pates was born Monday, June 30, 1952 to Abraham Pates Sr. and Melissa Pates in Melvin Park, Florida. She was educated in the St. Johns County School District, continuing her education at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida.

She was employed as a Clergy Member for the Lord Jesus Christ, Administrative Assistant for Santa Fe College and Family Worship Center. Ida enjoyed cooking and giving out food to people in need. She loved singing, studying the Word of God and mowing her own grass.

She is preceded in death by Abraham Pates Sr., Melissa Pates, Victor A. Pates, Rayfield Pates, George Pates, Betty Courtney, and Earlyne Pates Gilmore.
Ida leaves to cherish her memories, daughters, Tracenia Spells, Sarah Dread and Naomi Pates; sons, John Pates and Samuel Dread; brothers, Abraham Pates Jr., Isaiah Pates, Mayfield Pates (Michelle)and Adriel Pates; sisters, Gladys Rives, Rosie Bristol (Willie) and May Ross (Henry); brother n law, James Gilmore Sr. and Ricky Courtney; dear and close nieces Ka’Dijah Gilmore and Taymaria Clark and a host of other relatives.

Ida Mae Pates, 71 of Palatka answered her heavenly call Sunday, July 30, 2023 at HCA North Florida Regional Hospital, Gainesville, Florida.
