Obituary

James Edward Potter, a native of East Palatka, Florida, was born to James and Nettie Mae Potter in Washington County Florida on August 23, 1949. James was affectionately known to many as “Billy”. At a young age his family relocated to Putnam County, Fl., where he was educated in the Putnam County School District. James attended East Palatka Elementary School and was a graduate of Central Academy High School, Palatka, FL.

Billy followed in his father’s footsteps; he was employed for the Florida East Coast Railroad Company.

James Edward Potter was preceded in death by his loving parents and his most loved sister Bridgette Potter Jackson.

He entered eternal rest at Acension Sacred Heart Bay Hospital, in Panama City Fl. on December 29, 2023.

James was the proud father of Shirley Phelps, East Palatka, Fl., Terrell (Tonya) Potter, Lonoke, AR., and Lashonda Russell, Palatka, Fl. who will forever cherish his memories. To also cherish his treasured loving memories: Devoted Sisters, Bettie “Nellie” Potter, Trenton, NJ, Bobbie Potter (Joseph) Johnson, Ebro, Fl., and Renaye Potter Peterson, Jacksonville, Fl.; Son, Shawn (Janice) Sharon, Kissimmee, FL; God Sister, Jeanette (Anthony) Boyd, Palatka, Fl.; grandchildren, great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and caring friends.
