Obituary For Josephine Kay Lawton

Josephine Kay Lawton was born Josephine Kay Johnson on Tuesday, June 23, 1953, to Queen Ivy and Joe Johnson Sr., in Palatka, Florida. Josephine was affectionately known to many as “Kat”. She was educated in the Putnam County School District, graduating in the class of 1973 from Palatka South High School known as the Braves.

Josephine was an entrepreneur, employing many through farming and logging. She was a Migrant Contractor and co-owner of KC Lawton Trucking. Kat had a special hand for sewing and gardening. She was a great cook and enjoyed crossword puzzles.

Josephine found holiness at a young age. She served as the first Secretary for Grace & Truth Deliverance under the care of Dr. Apostle Cora Fells. As the world turned, so did Josephine. She was ordained as an Evangelist of the gospel and served on many ministries at Life Changing Outreach Ministries under the leadership of Bishop Keith and Pastor Judy Woodard for the last 24 years. Evangelist Lawton was a true believer and her faith allowed her to survive breast cancer twice.

Josephine is preceded in death by her parents, Queen Ivy and Joe Johnson Sr., children, Sharon Trower Walker and Nevada Grice, siblings, Joe “Jack” Johnson Jr., Joseph Johnson, Henry Johnson, Dazerine Fuller and Catherine Palmer, aunts, Blanche Jones and Estella Jones, uncles, James “Bubba” Jones Sr. and Abe “Duggie” Jones Jr., and other relatives.
