Obituary For Sandra Yvette Rolle
Sandra Yvette Rolle, 56, born and raised in Georgetown, FL and resided in Covington, GA, passed away on April 14, 2024, at Emory University Hospital Midtown Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Sandra, the eighth of twelve siblings, was born to the late Julia Mae and Richard Cook, Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Shirley Ann Cook, Gregory Lindell Cook, Sharon Denise Cook and Rodney Cook. Sandra received her education in Putnam County Schools and graduated from Crescent City High School in 1986. From 1988-89, she studied Cosmetology at St. Augustine Technical Center and worked briefly as a stylist in a local hair salon in Crescent City, FL until moving to Lithonia, GA, where she made Georgia her home. Sandra attributed her strong faith in God to her early Christian upbringing from her parents and participation in the Sunshine Band ministry at Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ under the loving tutelage of Missionary Ruby “Sue” Banks.
At the time of her passing, she was employed for over 20 years as a Patient Service Specialist with Emory Rehabilitation Outpatient Center, Stockton, GA. For 7 years prior to that, she worked for Progressive Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy.
She expressed her love for cooking special meals for anyone who requested. Her savvy and bold style of fashion lit up the room whenever she entered, and her knack for decorating, brought an ambiance of style that was uniquely her. She carried a light that could not be dimmed. She will be remembered for her quick wit, silly laughs and looks and her love for life and family.
Sandra’s passion and zeal for life can be seen in the loving, committed care she had for her children. If you knew Sandra, you knew of her love for her sons, Brandon, Myles, Christopher and Patrick because they were the apple of her eyes. Her deep faith in God and the love for service to her local church family, Nehemiah Empowerment Group Ministries, under the leadership of Pastor Anthony Smith, resonated in her everyday pursuit of following Christ. She accepted Jesus as her Savior in her younger years and exhibited unwavering faith until the very end of her life. An 18-year survivor of breast cancer, Sandra never failed to give God all the praise for life, and always remained optimistic during difficult circumstances.
Sandra leaves a legacy of love for family and faith in God, and will be greatly missed by her children: Brandon Gibson, Atlanta, GA; Myles Rolle, Christopher Rolle and Patrick Rolle, Covington GA; siblings: Richard Cook, Jr., Georgetown, FL; Charles Cook, Crescent City, FL; Sheila Wyatt,(special big sissy) Orlando, FL; Pamelia Tillmon, Plano, TX; Michael Cook, Parksley, VA; Sara Cook, Daytona Beach, FL; and Kevin Cook, Jacksonville, FL.; best friends: Gayla Subrena, Decatur, GA and Serena Anderson, St. Augustine FL; close friends: Latrail Page, Stone Mountain, GA and Chacana Smith, Covington, GA, Jason Elliot Bullock, Loganville, GA; and a special life-long friend Cyril “Chuck” Gibson, Miami, FL.

The scripture that epitomizes Sandra’s resolution to the cares of this life that is now behind her is 2 Timothy 4:7-8 –
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not only to me, but unto all of them also that love his appearing”.
