Obituary

Willie James Henderson, Sr. was born in Savannah, GA on September 12, 1942 to Cromwell and Louise Henderson. He later moved to East Palatka, FL. He was educated in Palatka, FL and was a 1958 graduate of Central Academy High School. Willie moved to Cleveland, Ohio and was employed with Revco, Inc. for a number of years. He retired in 2005. Willie enjoyed gardening, growing vegetables. watching football games and spending time with his family. Willie met and married Gwendolyn Althea Thompson, to their union was born George E. Brinson and Willie J. Henderson, Jr.; He later united in marriage with Mary Henderson, Frederick Ryan Henderson was born to this union; years later, he would meet and marry Leona Joyce Head, following her untimely death, he remarried Gwendolyn Thompson Henderson and moved back to New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He recently moved back to Palatka, FL, where he resided until his death on February 27, 2024, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George Henderson, John (Pansy) Henderson, Fred Henderson; sister, Margie (Earl) Stanley; former wives, Leona Joyce Henderson and Gwendolyn Althea Henderson.

Willie leaves to cherish the memories his loving children, George E. Brinson and Willie J. Henderson, Jr. of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Frederick (Shashaa) Henderson of Davenport, FL, Deanna J. Head (Robert Feaster), Wesley J. Head, Yvette J. Head-McKee and Tyrone McKee and Martiese J. Head (Andre Wilkins), all of Cleveland, OH; former wife, Mary Henderson; sisters-in-law, Mavis Henderson and Marie Henderson, Isabelle Oldwine and Wanda(Robert) Glover of Cleveland, OH; and a host of grandchildren, great-grand children, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
